Vintage Victoria Ware Ironstone Pitcher
This is a vintage Victoria Ware Ironstone pitcher in the Old World Town pattern. It features several intricate historical scenes using a blue transferware technique. This style of decoration involves transferring an engraved image onto the pottery, giving it a detailed, often somewhat hazy, appearance. The pitcher is also described as “flow blue” which incorporates a process that causes the blue pigment to bleed or flow into the surrounding white areas, resulting in a blurred or smudged appearanceThe Old World Town pattern features scenes of buildings, horses, statues, landscapes, and people.
